What happens when infection occurs in your mouth?
Gingivitis is defined as the inflammation of the gums. This is the type of gum disease that is affecting the tissues, gums, and the jawbones. This type of gum disease ranges from mild cases such as gingivitis to a more serious periodontitis that involves acute necrotizing, ulcerative gingivitis which is a more life threatening dental health problem. This type of gum disease is usually cause by a bacteria in our mouth. Since our mouth is moist and has a warm environment, it makes it a perfect place for the bacteria to live in. if not only to our immune system, the bacteria in our mouth could overwhelm our body’s defense system. When this happens, infection will start to occur. Gingivitis is an infection because of bacteria invading the soft tissues in out mouth.
