If your residence is a rented house, apartment or a condominium your landlords insurance policy does not protect your personal belongings in the event of a fire or theft or any other unexpected circumstance. Renters insurance protects you from losing everything in the case of a fire, flood, theft, or severe storm. Without renters insurance you could lose everything when a home is destroyed. Renters insurance, because you are not insuring a building, is surprisingly inexpensive. Of course, like all property protection policies, the value of the property to be insured and other risk factors are determined by the insurance company to determine your premium.
