Cloverfield dvd is a real 21st century kind of movie its a horror film for the You Tube generation. Its also bleak and scary. Cloverfield captures the chronic self-absorption of the Facebook generation with breathless, cleverly recycled media savvy, and then it stomps that self-absorption to death. These days, thats entertainment. Ultimately a feature-length tease, the movie remarkably insubstantial and uninvolving for something that tries so desperately to live in the moment. The filmmakers wisely avoid showing you everything, instead showing only bits and hints of whats going on, a technique that really fuels fear in a viewer. For all its newfangled innovations, the movie shares DNA with similarly themed sci-fi yarns from the 1950s.
