Private and Government databases

May 26th, 2008

Do government agencies keep huge amounts of personal information about you, and can it be used against you? Many people including me do worry about what info governments and agencies keep about me, and who then has access to it. It is certainly true that the official agencies hold records for our benefit, and for protecting people, and this can not be argues with. For a simple example, look at your health records - they may be dangerous for others to have, but they are kept to ensure you can be treated and diagnosed quickly. Of course some of cour records end up with other organisations or companies. People can even access other peoples records using websites which access government records or for example commercial cell phone reverse lookup searches. Tough to find in the past, such background information and reverse lookups are now quite easy to find and although useful it could be argued they infringe on peoples security and private data.
